What brings people to counselling?

We all go through times in life when things feel overwhelming, unclear, or too heavy to carry alone. Maybe you're feeling anxious or low, stuck in patterns that don’t make sense, or unsure about who you are anymore. You might not even know what’s wrong — just that something doesn’t feel quite right.
Counselling can be a space to pause, breathe, and begin to untangle some of what’s going on beneath the surface.
People come to counselling for many different reasons — sometimes because of a big life event like grief, relationship breakdown, or a health diagnosis. Other times it’s a slow build-up of pressure, or a quiet sense of not feeling like yourself. You don’t have to wait for things to be “bad enough” to ask for support.
As a therapist, I work with a wide range of issues — including anxiety, low mood, identity questions, and the impact of how we see ourselves. For some, that might include coming to terms with something very personal like visible difference or hair loss — something I understand from my own lived experience of alopecia.
You don’t need to have the right words, or even a clear reason, to start counselling. We begin wherever you are — and move at a pace that feels right for you
If any of this resonates with you and you'd like to explore what counselling could offer, you're welcome to look around my website or get in touch. You don’t need to have everything figured out — we can start where you are
